Description: Complete 3.5 Liter Ford SHO Racing Engine Package For Sale
Complete 3.5L Custom Ford SHO Racing Engine Package For Sale - Complete with all the extras
We are offering this SHO Engine For Sale at probably well under half what it would cost to replace it making it a fair buy for a race car or sand buggy.
This is the 2nd 3.5 SHO Engine we had in the race car. The first having been well ventilated in testing prior to running the Pikes Peak HillClimb in 2012
This particular motor was built (first) with the intent of running the Mount Washington Hill Climb in 2017 where we finished 3rd Overall and 2nd in Class with yet a quicker time than 2011. We had issues however.
Picture Shows the installation of this engine in our HillClimb Racing Car.
The engine is a 3.5 with a 92mm bore and a custom offset ground crank light rods and fit with Honda ends and Toyota mains.
Fit with custom pistons making just under 13:1CR it requires race fuel.
The heads are fully custom ported with HD dbl valve springs, oversized valves and custom ground cams.
The most identifying item however is the tubular intake plenum using an 75mm throttle body and 80mm MAF.
The inside of this plenum consists of 180 degree Kinsler ram tubes and the English Wheel rolled outer body with ribs to stiffen it.
Fire comes from custom wires, race plugs, stock coil and the old school EEC Tuner and X2J computer.
*Forgive me if some of that is not exact but it’s been a few years. Best guess: a bit over 300HP and gobs of low end torque. That I can attest to.
As we raced at the MT Washington Hill Climb the oil pressure continued to fall. We made it to the top both times on Sunday in part thanks to 3 bottles of STP subbing for some of the race oil.
Something was wrong inside. That turned out to be a poorly ground and hard chromed crank.
Where hard chrome should have been about .008-.012” thick this was flashed less than half that.
Making if flake off and double bearing clearances.
Add to that by now it was fractured!
The engine was removed from the car in late 2017 and totally torn down for that inspection.
An all new crank, ground and plated to spec along with new bearings were installed (free of charge and even given $ to pay for the added labor involved) as well as a good cleaning and new gaskets. Returned to me it has sat in the shop since about mid 2018.
By now with our current racecar running a 2.4 Honda Engine - I have no further plans to refit this SHO. Sitting here it needs to find a new home.
Included with the sale: - a single seater wiring harness - Kennedy T1 adapter and flywheel - the X2J computer - the Dell Laptop for tuning - long tube headers - plumbing - as well as ALL the spares and items related to this motor - spare plastic - wiring - injectors - intake and exhaust parts - plumbing - filters etc etc.
I will also include ALL the other SHO related parts from the 3.0 Liter SHO Engine we ran after a rules change negated the 3.5 from being run in class: - a pair of fully built heads - a serviceable block - and anything else I find for you to take
Not included: radiators, side pods engine mounts and other “Coyote” specific parts.
